- Basic, anonymized analytics may be used to keep the service running — no personal identifiers.
1. Who we are
droptomd is a product of ThinkOve Oy, a software company registered in Finland. droptomd is a free, open-source tool that converts PDF documents to Markdown format.
This Privacy Policy explains how droptomd handles information when you use the service at www.droptomd.com.
2. Information we do not collect
droptomd is designed from the ground up to collect as little information as possible. Specifically, we do not:
- Store, retain, or log any file you upload for conversion.
- Collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifier.
- Require you to create an account or log in.
- Use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Build a profile of you or your usage behavior.
3. File processing
When you upload a PDF to droptomd:
- The file is received by our server solely for the purpose of conversion.
- The conversion process runs immediately.
- The file and any derived content are discarded as soon as conversion is complete.
- No copy of your file, its contents, or the resulting Markdown is retained on our servers.
We do not inspect, read, index, or analyze the contents of your documents for any purpose other than performing the conversion you requested.
4. Technical data and analytics
Like most web services, our server may briefly process standard HTTP request data (such as your IP address and browser user-agent) in order to handle incoming requests and protect against abuse. This data is not stored in logs tied to your identity and is not used for tracking or profiling.
We may use anonymized, aggregated analytics (e.g., number of conversions per day, general geographic region) to monitor service health and improve the product. This data contains no personally identifiable information and cannot be traced back to any individual.
5. Cookies
droptomd does not use cookies for advertising, tracking, or personalization. Any cookies set are strictly functional (e.g., session state necessary for the conversion workflow) and are not shared with third parties.
6. Third-party services
droptomd may rely on standard infrastructure providers (hosting, CDN) to operate. These providers may process basic technical request data as part of delivering the service. They are contractually bound not to use this data for purposes beyond service delivery.
We do not integrate advertising networks, social media trackers, or behavioral analytics platforms.
7. Children's privacy
droptomd is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our service, please contact us and we will promptly address it.
8. Data retention
Because we do not collect or store personal data or uploaded files, there is effectively no personal data for us to retain or delete. Uploaded PDFs and conversion outputs are discarded immediately upon completion of the conversion.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy law (such as GDPR or CCPA) including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not collect or store personal data, there is typically nothing to access, correct, or delete.
If you have questions or believe we hold data about you, please contact us at the address below and we will respond promptly.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to secure our service. Since files are not stored, the risk of a data breach involving your documents is minimized by design. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we make every effort to protect data in transit.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of droptomd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
